Paintings
I paint landscapes. My degree has the emphasis title in painting. It's where I started back in the late 1900s and where I turned to in the early 2000s when I realized the ceramic department where I was finally finishing my degree was a complete waste of time. I already had that experience, knowledge, skill, and time invested. Painting, now that was where it was at.
It's funny looking at the finished pieces after hours and weeks working on them. I leave a painting to its own devices for a couple of days after I think I am done. When I am painting, I think about the colors that are so subtle in the sky or the woods or fields. I want to see those colors in my paintings. What happens, well, you can see what happens.
I seem to lean towards the skies too. I mean, look at them, a lot of them, are mostly sky.
Something is pulling me in that direction. Whenever I look up, I breathe deeply. It's why I follow birds. It's why I take video after video of the movement of the clouds. Whatever it is that pulls me towards these wonderful things of motion and constant change, well, I have decided to stop searching for the answer to why and just do.
Anyway, here are some pieces I've done in the past/recently. A smorgasbord, if you will.
I love this one...I would love to do more animals, but it takes a very special image, a special moment that allows me to do so.
